Is it really already 2012? Where does time go? I’m excited to see what lies ahead….my ten on ten this month is a look back. These images were taken throughout the day on Christmas Eve. I took them all on Fuji 300ob using a polaroid back with my new (to me at least) Mamiya RZ Pro II. This camera is so vintage and so much fun….I love the timeless feel that it gives these images. Be sure to click through the whole circle this month….we’ve added some wonderful new photographers – don’t miss out! To see what’s going on with everyone, go visit my friend Sara.

This month’s post is so special to me. My best friend Monica had her first baby. So on a very cold and rainy day, I raced down to Austin to meet baby Ryder. A few observations…..1) trying to drive a car in the rain while focusing a camera probably isn’t the best idea I’ve every had, so kids, don’t try this at home. 2) it was totally worth it to race down there 3) I obviously can’t count to ten, and 4) getting to witness a baby’s birth, in whatever form or fashion, is amazing. I’m so glad I got to be there.
Check out what the rest of the group has going on by visiting Amy Boring of A Boring Photo.
All images shown here were shot on a Nikon f100 and a Mamiya RZ Pro II with Polaroid back.

….to look a lot like Christmas!
I took these images over at my sweet friend Paige’s home (yes, I’m a slacker – I still haven’t finished decorating).
Paige Merchant is a fabulous designer that lives in my area. We thought it would be fun to get together to photograph some of her decor….I loved hearing the stories and meaning to so many of the pieces she has. What special traditions do you look forward to at Christmas?

Last month, I joined in on this little personal project with an awesome group of friendtographers. The idea behind it is to take ten images of anything your little heart desires on one single day, then share those images on the 10th of each month.
Sometimes I need a little prodding to get with it and tackle a personal project, so this has been the perfect way to give myself a gentle reminder. Last month, I got out on our land in Aledo, TX, and actually took some of the pictures that I’ve been wanting to have…..images that I can print and frame when we build out there. We truly have a slice of Texas heaven, so having those images means a lot to me.
This month, we took our three girls to the Texas State Fair (you aren’t a real Texan if you don’t go), and so I lugged a few cameras along with me for the day. We went the weekend of my youngest daughter’s birthday….she wore her paper crown that she got at school with pride the entire time we were there. We couldn’t believe it didn’t blow away on a ride.

As I’m sitting down to write this post, I’m realizing how much better I like taking photographs than I do writing. Getting the right thoughts from my head to written form is not my strength, but I will give it my best shot….
This set of images that I’ve posted is part of a personal project that I’m participating in with several other talented photographers and friends. My friend Shannon, who came up with the idea, wanted to take images throughout one day, and in her words “embrace the crazy” and capture those things that we often miss over the course of day to day life. Especially since starting to shoot film, I have had a strong desire to shoot more personal work, and explore more deeply how to see my world. So, on the 10th of each month, I will be posting 10 images from one single day during the previous month.
This time, I chose to take pictures on a lazy Sunday afternoon spent out on our land. I’ve posted pictures that I’ve taken out there before, but this time, I shot with a Holga and a Yashica Mat on HP5, and with the goal in mind to get some images to print and frame in our future home out there (I also decided to give my kiddos a break). I love the variety of results you can get from different cameras. In case you are not familiar, the Holga is a toy camera, and the Yashica is a little twin lens waist level finder model. This was the first time I’ve gotten either one out. I’m already itching to get out and shoot more.

This is my nine month old English Mastiff, Molly. She already almost comes to my waist on all fours. Growing that fast must be hard work.

We recently took all three girls on a trip out to Los Angeles/Santa Barbara. It was everything we could have hoped a family trip would be. I fell in love with Santa Barbara and the architecture there – very cool since we are in the process of designing our home, and this is the style we want our home to be. The last few black and whites (other than the beach, of course) are from Mulholland Drive. We quite enjoyed listening to Free Fallin’ while actually gliding down over Mulholland. :)
I hope to go back soon, hopefully next time to Northern California.

This is our land that I love so much. We are making plans to move out there, although it’s going to be a long process. On our last visit, our land man’s horses were out….I love the image of the horse and our Rottweiler nose to nose. I can’t wait to get out there.

Love that big tongue. I’m totally jealous of your land.
